Job Description

The Monitoring and Event Management Team is looking for a highly-motivated, Azure Monitoring Engineer with an application engineering background to help administer and operate our Cloud Monitoring platforms. The candidate should have a strong technical aptitude and be comfortable providing excellent customer service. An ideal candidate will have knowledge with monitoring technologies such as Microsoft Azure Monitor (AppInsights, OMS, NPM), Dynatrace, Splunk, ThousandEyes, etc. The position also requires scripting to automate deployments with Monitoring and Event management solutions, ensuring 24/7 visibility of GEICO’s application and service portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead efforts to upgrade/consolidate monitoring tools in our portfolio and remediate any gaps in monitoring.
Work with customers and other stakeholders to develop correlation, visualizations, reports and dashboards.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data relationships are correctly identified and the appropriate owners are identified.
Create and maintain documentation specific to monitoring tools, on-boarding procedures, and data mapping/relationships.
Must be detail-oriented, proactive, responsible and demonstrate an ability for getting the job done.
Keep abreast of latest technology trends and developments.
Knowledge of scripting (reporting, API integration with other monitoring tools, automation, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Monitor (App Insights, OMS etc.) is required.
Familiarity with designing, building, and maintenance of cloud environments in Azure, utilize IaaS, Pass, and SaaS Cloud Service model in Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of cloud-based storage and database concepts including SQL, COSMOS, Azure tables, BLOB.
Familiarity with asynchronous communication mechanism design and implementation using messaging and storage frameworks like Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, etc.
Knowledge of enterprise web application with distributed components, web services and Microservices using various system level and Object-Oriented architectures.
Ability to collaborate with other architecture teams i.e. Applications, Network, Database, Infrastructure, Security, etc.
Ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment and interact with a broad customer base with diverse needs and functional responsibilities.
Provide constant and clear technical and architectural leadership. Ensure correct technology choices and high standards in terms of adherence to best practices. Consistency, performance, robustness, intuitive APIs are core tenets for our solutions.
Perform peer design reviews and architectural reviews.
Highly skilled at interacting with customers and resolving their issues with a quick turnaround time.
Possess good work ethic and high-level of integrity. 

Desired Qualifications:

Strong domain and business knowledge.
Knowledge of AKS and other container services.
Microsoft .Net platform experience is strongly preferred.
Coordinate with delivery project managers and business analysts to draft project scope and compile delivery estimates as needed
Oversee and monitor projects and initiatives for technical and architectural soundness. Take an active hands-on role in key enterprise monitoring solutions.
