Job Summary:

Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of    age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the  patient’s care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act.  The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes, quality of care and initiateschange through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared-governance councils.

National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for the registered nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment.  The registered nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes .  Also, the registered nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuous professional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

1.  Active Kentucky License

2.  BCLS Required

3.  ACLS Required

4.  PALS Required

5.? BSN or Nursing Certification required except as noted:

?Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013 are grandfathered and exempt from obtaining a BSN or Certification.
Associate degreed New Graduate Nurses must obtain a BSN by agreeing to enroll in a program within 1 year of hire/transfer and complete the degree within 5 years of hire/transfer.
RN’s with less than 5 years of experience as a nurse must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire.
RN’s with 5 years of experience or greater as a nurse must complete one of the following: Obtain a BSN by agreeing to enroll in a program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire OR Obtain a Nursing Certification within one year of hire or as soon as eligible to sit for the certification.
