This is an exciting time to be at Medtronic. Medtronic recently organized into 20 operating units, 6 global functions, and 6 manufacturing networks. As a Business Partner Services IT team, we are responsible for providing IT Support and Delivery for many of these Operating units for application development, data intelligence, and operational support. Each of these functions has either a dedicated or designated BRM who acts as a conduit to the business. Our role is to support them in delivering IT solutions.
As the IT Director of App Dev and Agile, you will be responsible for leading Web/Mobile App, DevOps, Architecture, Agile Practice, and Demand Management. Currently, we operate ~25 scrum teams under various portfolios. We need to mature our agile practice while growing at a rapid pace. This role provides thought leadership, coaching, and supervision of resources assigned to your portfolio.
The role will be responsible for delivering flagship and key projects to the business teams. Depending on the projects, you will be working with other BPS and Core IT teams to deliver the solution. The role requires developing and maintaining effective relationships with Medtronic's internal business partners, IT development, and operations team.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
• Develops and drives strategies to achieve the highest levels of quality and reliability in product development
• Ensure full compliance to quality systems and financial requirements, including the development of procedures to address these areas
• Partner with Research and Technology, Quality, internal R&D partners, and Operations to achieve a seamless transition of IT deliverables to business teams
• Responsible for cost center budgets and spending. Provide accountability for Annual Operating Plan(AOP) targets
• Develops and executes talent management strategy with an emphasis on developing domain knowledge, technical skills, and technical leadership
• Interface with Business Relationship Managers (BRM) to understand their needs related to technology, features/functions, cost, timeline, and priorities
• Establish and maintain accountability for all functional team performance metrics in support of the AOP and Quality objectives. Responsible for setting employee objectives linked to the AOP, Quality initiatives, and other key operational metrics. Responsible for on-time performance feedback to all employees tied to previously established objectives
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelors degree required
• Minimum of 10 years of IT development experience with 7+ years of progressive managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of IT development experience with 7+ years of progressive managerial experience
Nice to have
• Must have experience hiring and managing analysts, engineers, and quality resources
• Must have prior hands-on development experience in Java or similar programming languages
• Prior director-level experience in leading app dev and agile teams.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
• 15+ years of IT development experience and 10+ years of leading development teams
• Experience in delivering cloud technologies in the private and commercial cloud (AWS and or Azure)
• Excellent understanding of scalable cloud architectures and experience applying them to real-world problems
• Experience with multiple API design and implementation projects
• Hands-on experience with agile development, continuous delivery, managing scope, and DevOps
• Experience developing microservice and container strategies
• Experience with Decision Systems (Rules Engine) development
• Ability to manage infrastructure and operations of large scale enterprise-grade databases
• Experience working with financial and supply chain data
• Experience with ETL tools and Integration technologies
• Strong experience with cross-cultural and global teams
• Mobile development experience, specifically on the iOS platform. Android development would be plus
• Demonstrated success in creating sustained change in business processes
• Strong advocacy skills on behalf of internal customers
• Strong written and oral presentation skills
