Key Functions:
* The primary function of the 938/966 Operator is to operate a front-end loader in a safe and conscientious manner to transport logs from the log yard to the debarker infeed.
* Works closely with management, Lathe Operator, Lathe Deck Operator, Block Saw Operator, and other members of the department to maintain a proper flow of blocks from the block saw to the lathe.
* Essential to operate the front-end loader to transport cores from the log yard to the CNS infeed, essential to unload block bins and transport blocks from the block bin to steam vats.
* Essential to unload vats and transport blocks to the lathe infeed. The front-end loader is climate-controlled, either a bouncy or low impact ride may be experienced.
* It is essential to complete a daily mobile equipment checklist, add oil, water and refuel as necessary.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma/GED
* 2 years of related experience.
* Must have a mechanical ability.
* Must be Pit certified.
* Knowledge of CAT operation, block species and block conditioning to maintain the proper flow of blocks from the block saw, through the vats and to the lathe by effectively operating the vats and vat cat.
* Ability to maintain the flow of blocks at full production (capacity) including but not limited to keeping the lathe infeed deck full, assisting Lathe Deck Operator with infeed plug-ups, filling the vats, removing spinouts from bin, keeping core bins organized, determining the types and number of blocks need to fill the vats, and operation of the vats water supply and doors.
* Ability to complete paperwork in an accurate and legible manner.
* Ability to work with little direct supervision and be self-motivated.
* Ability to work closely with others; be a team player/leader; demonstrate good communication skills, and a positive attitude.
* Knowledge and willingness to use safety standards, lockout procedures and wear necessary PPE.
* Ability to maintain a clean work station, and exhibit good performance, safety and attendance records.
* Willingness to work any shift, work on short notice, work overtime and weekends and rotate between jobs; as well as perform any job as specified by supervisor.
* Knowledge and ability to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
