Weyerhaeuser's Longview Log Sort/Export Yard is hiring a log scaler. We are seeking individuals who desire to work in a customer driven, market-focused, log export facility while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Weyerhaeuser's Longview Log Sort/Export Yard is an industry leader in the softwood log exporting business. We deliver a long-term stable flow of high-quality log products to a reliable customer base in Asia through execution of our fully integrated Western Timberlands supply chain.

Rate of pay starts at %2427.43 per hour. After proven competency, and mastering all job responsibilities, there is a potential to reach the rate of pay for a Master Log Scaler which is currently at %2433.78 per hour. Holiday pay, vacation pay, health and welfare, and 401K benefits are provided. A pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check is required.

The work force is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM).

Key Functions:

* Activities and requirements include working outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions; log scaling, log grading, all log accountability responsibilities in both the yard and at the dock loading vessels, and the use of handheld computers and other scaling equipment.
* The facility operates under a small crew flow-to-work concept and requires that all employees can do all activities and willing to change job assignments as needed.
* Some workstation cleaning, preparation and organization is required.



Qualifications

Requirements:

* A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
* The ability to work safely, including strict adherence to log yard safety procedures, taking the personal initiative to work safely at all times, contributing to the safety of your team members, and maintaining a safe work environment.
* Knowledge and experience as a log scaler preferred - including experience with sorting/grading specifications, species identification and using handheld electronic computers.
* Must have excellent listening and communication skills; ability to read and follow written instructions.
* Must be team oriented, working successfully with others and contributing to a positive and productive safe working environment.
* Willing to wear personal protective equipment always and dress appropriately for a year around outdoor work environment.
* Ability and willingness to work on varying shifts (operating posture includes multiple shifts).
* Ability and willingness to work overtime as operating conditions require.
* Ability to perform the essential job functions such as bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting, and stepping over/around objects in a log yard environment.
* Experience and familiarity with log handling/sort yard and identifying hazards in a log sort yard.
