Merchandising Basics: Two Divisions One Goal.

Merchandising is comprised of two divisions, Buying and Planning & Allocation. They work together to drive sales and profit for TJX. Our Buyers are global travelers, sourcing from a universe of over 21,000 vendors and more than 100 countries to deliver amazing merchandise at exciting value to our customers every day.

Planning & Allocation impacts the day-to-day management of our business by analyzing financial data, anticipating consumer buying patterns, and managing inventory levels to ensure the right merchandise gets to the right stores at the right time.

The Opportunity: Never The Same Day Twice.

Our Merchandising Co-op opportunities exist in our Corporate Home Office in Framingham, MA, as well as our Los Angeles Buying Offices. From day one and throughout your 6-month Co-op, youll experience classroom and on-the-job training that will help you understand how our business works and how Merchandising impacts the bottom line.

Throughout the Co-op, there are many opportunities to Discover Differentby networking and interacting with all levels of management and participating in informative workshops, projects, and team-building events. As a Co-op, you will be assigned to a specific category of business within Planning & Allocation or Buying. Placement is determined based on business needs.

In a business where you never experience the same day twice, here is a sampling of how youll be challenged to think creatively and drive for results:

Allocation Analyst Co-op

/ Directly responsible for several multi-million dollar product classifications

/ Participate in an accelerated version of training received by full time hires

/ Analyze reports, evaluate inventory levels & identify trends

/ Responsible for determining allocation strategy for our stores

/ Visit TJX stores and competitors to critique/ evaluate the merchandise

/ Liaison between Buying and Planning to resolve merchandise related issues

Associate Buyer Co-op

/ Experience the world of off-price negotiation and buying

/ Participate in an accelerated version of training received by full time hires

/ Opportunity to travel with Buyers to domestic markets

/ Strategize with Buyers before vendor visits and debrief post-visit

/ Analyze reports, identify trends, prepare buyers for market trips, write and track orders

/ Resolve issues with incoming merchandise

/ Visit TJX stores and competitors to critique/ evaluate the merchandise

/ Liaison between Buying and Planning to resolve Merchandise related issues

Who We Are Looking For: It Just Might Be You.

This Co-op program is for self-starters who have a strong foundation of strategic and analytical thinking and are eager to put them to use in the world of business. Specifically, we are looking for:

/ Students eligible for an intermediate to advanced Co-op

/ Strong ability to work with numbers, analyze data, and think critically

/ Genuine interest in retail, product, and in following trends

/ Entrepreneurial spirit

/ Excellent communicators who work well in teams

/ Proven leadership abilities and a strong work ethic

/ Creative problem solvers

/ Self-starters who can multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Key Qualifications:

/ Eligible to participate in a 6 month experience from JulyDecember 2021

/ In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in The United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
