Position Summary:
The Sr. Planning Analyst - Rail role is responsible for executing the optimized supply network for their respective product(s) and oversight of the inventory replenishment process. He/she will work to guide the MPU (Material Planning Unit) Buyers to maintain inventory levels between the control limits such that we will be able to retain a high service factor to our customers, while minimizing additional inventory holding costs like demurrage.
Responsibilities Include:
* Analyze IBE (Integrated Business Execution) model output for opportunities to optimize the network and reduce cost.
* Analyze supply/demand balance and provide oversight & guidance to MPU for inventory replenishment for assigned products.
* Collaborate with Product Management to maintain an inbound sourcing plan for all product locations.
* Provide MPU oversight on railcar demurrage management.
* Act as single point of contact and place all railcar orders with suppliers for terminal and customer shipments.
* Present inventory projection, demurrage, and off-plan shipments on weekly business meeting.
* Proactively communicate railcar shipment delays to MPU and CSRs and escalate delays to product management when necessary to manage expectations with suppliers.
* Proactively communicate with suppliers, provide demand forecasts when necessary.
* Ensure than we have an active rail freight rate for any rail movements that Univar Solutions is the payer of freight prior to shipment.
* Ensure that the rail freight is correct on all POs in UVX for which Univar Solutions is the payer of freight.
* Invoice customers for railcar demurrage.
* Analyze complex reports such as BCT, DARCi, SOSA, etc. and evaluate alerts and take necessary action.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
* Strong Excel skills. Must be able to format data, construct pivot tables, use conditional formatting, understand complex formulas/references, build complex multiple worksheet files, and use as supply chain tools.
* Knowledge of integrated planning software is preferred.
* Experience with various ERP systems within a production environment.
* Excellent communication and team building skills.
* Strong customer orientation.
* Very strong analytical skills, be detailed oriented, and extremely accurate.
* Ability to deal with complexity and manage ambiguity.
* Demonstrated project management skills.
* Collaborative skills in resolving long and short positions in inventory.
Education/Training:
* Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent, MS preferred.
* Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.
