About St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, a partnership between Tower Health and Drexel University, is a 188-bed facility that provides exceptional care to children throughout the Greater Philadelphia area and surrounding counties.

St. Christopher's has more than 220 pediatric experts on staff, combining top-notch pediatric care with a wide array of pediatric specialties including Cardiology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastroenterology, Oncology, and Orthopedics. It houses the only Verified Pediatric Burn Center between New York City and Baltimore and is one of only three Level I Pediatric Trauma Centers in Pennsylvania. St. Christopher's is a Magnet designated hospital and was recognized as a Women's Choice Award Best Children's Hospital.

In addition to its main location in Philadelphia, the hospital has a growing network of primary and specialty care locations throughout the Philadelphia suburbs and New Jersey so your child's health conditions can be treated close to home.

Responsibilities

The Social Worker (Emergency Room , Trauma and Burn)provides crisis intervention and supportive counseling to patients and families who have been victims of violence, house fires, child maltreatment, to name a few. The Social Worker also provides PTSD screening to all patients who have suffered a burn once seen at varying intervals in the outpatient Plastics clinic. As a member of an interdisciplinary care team referrals made to appropriate community/social agencies. Social work links to services in the hospital for support i.e. child life, pastoral care. This worker will also serve as a resource to the professional community and provide consultation and training. He/She will also provide backup coverage for the Med/Surg social worker. Participation in the departmental intake system is required.

Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of developmental stages of children and adults. This position interacts with patients from all ages from Neonates to Adults. Knowledge of basic computer skills is an asset.

Qualifications

Training & Education:

Masters Degree from an accredited school of Social Work.

Minimum 2 years' graduate experience under MSW supervision.
