This position supports the Workforce Law and Compliance team within the GCO. In addition, this position supports a broad range of GCO focused programs, policies, procedures, and processes to meet our business needs. This position reports to the Sr. Counsel, Workforce Law and Compliance.
Job Description
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare responses to charges of discrimination filed with government agencies.
* Assist with organizational design work and prepare/review business cases and separation agreements.
* Assist with workforce law and compliance responsibilities including providing advice regarding investigations (including drafting/revising investigation reports), performance management, policy review, leaves and accommodation inquiries and requests, employment agreements, and other related tasks.
* Assist with researching changes/updates in employment law and providing advice/recommendations and implementing actions to ensure compliance.
* Provide field-related support including assisting with the FP termination process and reviewing and preparing cease and desist letters regarding post-engagement activities.
* Assist with Legal Tracker and litigation management, including issuing legal holds, managing Legal Files, and leading outside counsel management processes.
* Respond to inquiries/requests including but not limited to personnel files, subpoenas, and unemployment inquiries.
* Administer Thrivents Dispute Resolution Program for employees, field sales members, and others associated with the enterprise.
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Job Qualifications
* College degree, or equivalent job experience.
* Paralegal certificate
* 5+ years significant experience working in employment law (working in law firm or in-house legal team supporting broad employment law functions).

* Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, Legal Tracker, and Legal Files is preferred. Ability to learn and utilize additional systems knowledge and capabilities as needed.
* Ability to work as a team, and individually, to solve programs that range from routine to complex.
* Maintain high degree of integrity and confidentiality for sensitive and privileged information.
* Work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects; demonstrated project and organizational skills.
