Job Summary:
Effectively manage complex commercial real estate transactions for issuing a wide variety of title insurance products and related endorsements. These transactions are extremely profitable and complex and depending on the size of the operation may also requires all of the job components of the Underwriter I job description. Combining both closing and underwriting knowledge, this position manages real estate closings for insuring title insurance with a specialization in commercial, multi-site, and multi-state transactions. The Commercial Escrow Officer must exercise independent judgment and possess the knowledge and experience necessary to efficiently handle any situation which may arise during the escrow and closing process.

Job Roles:
Independently maximize profits, manage and control every aspect of the commercial real estate business for the organization.
Familiarity with all legal, title and escrow requirements associated with a wide variety of size of commercial transactions.
Assist other escrow officers with their own less complicated commercial closings and may perform the Underwriter I role for group.
Conduct closing with customer, realtor, lenders and attorneys.
Maintain escrow records and files and acts as escrow agent.
Responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned escrow customers and brokers. Provides high level of customer service and develops ongoing escrow referrals from existing escrow customers and brokers.
Maintain records in the escrow accounting system and customer database.
Opens escrow transactions; develops and/or obtains the appropriate escrow documentation in accordance with policy and procedures and applicable statutory and Federal regulations.
Manages assigned escrow customers and brokers as their relationship manager; provides customer service and develops ongoing escrow referrals for transactions.
Must be customer-oriented and may have marketing duties to build relationships.
Reviews escrow reports against escrow records to ensure accuracy of posted escrow transactions

Qualifications

Role Specific Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of Commercial real estate accompanying title insurance policies, products and endorsements required for a wide variety of commercial transactions
Title and escrow expert
Working knowledge of ALTA survey
Experienced with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the escrow/title industry field
Formerly in an Escrow Officer role
Excellent client relations and organizational skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Ability to read and interpret documents
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organizations
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages - ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Detail-oriented and professional; able to handle confidential information
Successful track record in the escrow industry and expertise in a variety of escrow product areas
Strong communication, both verbal and written
Ability to deal with multiple types of roles such as real estate sellers, buyers, agents and brokers

Education, Licensure, and Experience:
Completion of a High School diploma
Possession of a state specific title insurance license
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the title insurance industry which includes experience in both title and escrow.
