Electrical Inspector

PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Electrical Inspector to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.

The Electrical Equipment inspector role is to provide technical/maintenance support to operations, maintenance, turnaround, projects and engineering for refinery equipment. The Electrical Equipment inspector will work to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance cost via investigation of failures, determination of root causes and completion of corrective actions. Electrical equipment includes MCCs, substations, Motors, Switch gear, Electrical testing, Overcurrent protection, Grounding, Wiring methods, Power distribution etc.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountabilities:

Operations Support: First point of contact for Operations when technical questions or issues with Electrical equipment arise (including off-hours). Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with Operators, Operations Maintenance Coordinator, Operations Specialist, and the Business Team Leader. Attend Operations meetings, share failure reports and equipment current equipment condition. Support startup for all non-routine startups of critical equipment.
Equipment Surveillance: Auditing of MCCs, substations, and switch gear. Conduct weekly (minimum) unit walk-through. etc. Those items that may need immediate attention should be brought to Operations for correction. Assist Operations in understanding the operation of their equipment so that they can observe these items daily.
Equipment Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot electrical problems to understand probable cause of failure and notify operating team of actions to prevent reoccurrence. Generate repair notification containing description of issue and proposed solution or improvement to address the issue.
Equipment Repair: First point of contact for crafts for technical expertise and training on critical equipment repair. Need to maintain a collaborative relationship with the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Team Leader, and Crafts. Manage quotes from Vendors, assist Engineer writing Technical Requirements, issue to Procurement or Area Planner for purchase
Reliability Improvement: Review monthly MTBM data, conduct failure analysis, propose solutions. Follow equipment failures on the Bad Actor list, define problem, determine root cause, and work with Engineer to recommend changes.
Documentation: Maintain equipment history, Bad Actor list, document Overhaul Reports, and maintain equipment folders. Develop and review Electrical Bulletins and Procedures. Submit drawing update (Schematic, Single-Line, Wiring Diagram, etc.) requests to Drafting Department with appropriate red-lines.
Planning: Maintain knowledge of equipment status within the assigned unit. Develop, review, and audit preventative maintenance work scopes, timing, and materials.
Turnaround Support: Lead and/or assist in work scope development, specify and inspect needed parts, develop QA/QC plan. Serves as an Electrical coordinator on special Electrical equipment jobs during maintenance outages and/or projects as required. TA Execution Inspector Inspect craft work, perform QA, submit DWRs when required, and validate equipment work is complete and safe for service. Work closely with Electrical TA Coordinator.

Maintenance Support: Technical support for maintenance personnel. Subject-matter-expert resource on critical electrical equipment for electricians to rely upon. Maintain a collaborative relationship with the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Team Leader, and Crafts. Develop and pursue ideas for potential electrician training opportunities.

Special Challenges:

During occasional high maintenance events (TA, Project Execution, Overhauls) successful candidate may be required to work altered schedule over an extend period.

Additional Comments:

* Development: Increase knowledge of Electrical/mechanical equipment.
* Develop knowledge of and utilize software systems including Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, Raddical View, KMS, RT Scada etc.
* Understand and follow Martinez Refining Company Procedures and MOC Process.
* Train new Engineers in electrical tests, reconditions, switching, motor control, troubleshooting, inspection and safe work practices.
* Understand and follow MRC Procedures. ARMS/FRMS
* Read appropriate literature: NFPA70E, NEC, PBF Engineering Standards, Martinez Refining Company DEPs, MRC Electrical Bulletins & Procedures, etc.
* Audit jobs (witness inspections at motor shops, etc.) to ensure compliance (including outside shops). Audit repair reports from vendors.
* Manage quotes from Vendors, assist Engineer writing Technical Requirements, issue to Procurement or Area Planner for purchase.
* Inspect manufacture/assembly of equipment and assist with witnessed factory testing for acceptance when applicable.
* Fulfill assignment as Electrical Staff Support duty person during off-hours.
* Assist in establishing and implementing Yearly Goals for the Electrical Group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Journeyman Electrician level of experience
* Minimum 5 - years of industrial Electrical equipment experience.
* Minimum 1 - year of Electrical inspection experience in a refinery or petrochemical plant
* Develop, review, and audit preventative maintenance work-scopes, timing, and materials.
* Author/review electrical switching instructions and Coordinate electrical breaker switching actions.
* Proven ability to perform troubleshooting and performance testing on various types of Electrical equipment
* Candidate shall be proficient in Microsoft Office software
* The Inspector shall have a working knowledge of refinery electrical equipment, switch gear, large AC motors, UPS systems, Battery systems, Emergency generators and MOV experience.
* SAP software experience, preferred.
* Working knowledge of Electrical repair standards, preferred.
* Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
* Familiarity with NFPA-70E (electrical safety in the workplace)
