Title: Freelance Digital Entertainment Writer

Reports to: US Digital Entertainment Editor
The Sun Online is one of the biggest news brands in the UK with a young, talented, diverse team who publishes the best coverage of news, sport, TV and showbiz, lifestyle, and family value. Last year we launched a team in the US, with ambitious plans for growth, and are looking for a first-class digital reporter to join us. This is an incredible opportunity to help shape our future development from the ground up, and the potential for career progression and personal development is huge.
Purpose of role: To pitch, write and produce engaging stories for The Sun's US website five days a week, including many weekends
Key responsibilities:
* Identify news stories and subjects that will drive traffic
* Turn around copy quickly and accurately, mindful of legal issues
* Work with video and picture desks to create content efficiently
* Produce posts in WordPress
Key Skills and Experience:
* A broad knowledge of tabloid subjects, including A-list celebrities and reality stars
* An instinct for how to 'sell' a digital story to get maximum impact on The Sun's platforms and social media
* The ability to write in a concise and entertaining way in keeping with The Sun's style
* Experience with WordPress production or similar CMS
* Familiarity with best SEO practices
* Ability to work as part of a team in a constantly adapting working environment
* A willingness to embrace ongoing digital challenges such as social media
* The ability to keep calm under pressure
* Ambition to progress and make the most of opportunities that present themselves
