Overview
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Contracts Manager to join its Contracts Department. This position is responsible for preparing contracts and amendments for imprints in the Children's and Trade publishing groups.
Responsibilities
* Prepare, draft, negotiate, finalize author contracts and amendments and other contracts as needed for Children's and Trade publishing groups.
* Prepare and negotiated intellectual property and entertainment and media related licensing agreements.
* Review requests submitted by editors.
* Negotiate film and other audiovisual option and purchase agreements.
* Ensure effective operations by interfacing with Royalty, Publishing Operations and Finance Departments.
* Interpret contract details to answer queries from internal personnel and third parties.
* Perform other tasks as needed and assigned.
* Advise on author estate matters as required.
Qualifications
* A 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
* 5-6 years of prior independent contracts drafting and negotiating experience in the Contracts Department of a book publisher or other relevant experience required
* Knowledge of and previous drafting experience of media licensing agreements
* Strong verbal, communication, drafting and negotiating skills
* Strong MS Office skills
* Excellent attention to detail with exceptional organizational ability
* Able to work independently and set priorities under pressure
