MD Anderson provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology services along with a range of supportive programs at all of its Greater Houston area locations. While MD Anderson - West Houston treats all types of cancers, the faculty has particular expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of the following cancers: Breast; Colorectal; Dermatology and skin; Endocrine; Genitourinary; Gynecologic; Head and neck; Neurologic; Thoracic.
The idea candidate will have 2 year of experience in an ambulatory surgery, procedure, or hospital environment and have their certification.
Duties:
Perform duties and troubleshoot in all areas of high level disinfectant and sterile processing to include the decontamination, assemble, sterilization of advanced instrumentation and equipment while adhering to the manufacturer and department guidelines.
Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
Maintains safety standards
Decontamination
* Identifies and follows manufactures instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instrumentation, equipment and flexible scopes.
* Adhere to the proper handling of garbage, linen and biohazardous materials.
* Maintains safety standards.
Assemble and prepare instrumentation for sterilization
* Consistently correctly assembles, protects and wraps and/or peel packs and labels instruments for use in the center.
* Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
Sterilization Process
* Selects appropriate sterilization method.
* Follow manufactures recommendations and department guidelines.
Requirements:
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program.
Experience
Required: Two years of experience performing sterile processing and high-level disinfection in ambulatory surgery, procedure, or hospital environment. No experience with preferred education
Preferred: None
License/Certifications
Required: One of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management IAHCSMM). Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM. Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).
