We are looking for a CAT Risk Modeling Analyst to to join our Marsh New York City team. Qualified candidates in other locations will be taken into consideration.
What can you expect?
As our Catastrophe Risk Modeling Analyst Digital Development you will be the expert in catastrophe risk modeling software with an inclination towards designing analytical infrastructure to enhance the client/colleague experience and understanding of modeling. In this role, you will implement catastrophe risk modeling as it is a critical component of Marsh client advisory for property insurance program structuring and marketing in alignment with and in support of the business goals and objectives - solutions that will enhance and grow the business. Leveraged with improved technology, we can expand catastrophe risk modeling utilization, mitigate pain-points for clients/colleagues when providing modeling inputs, enhance client data quality, automate manually-intensive modeling processes, and provide digital and interactive reporting interfaces that will allow clients/colleagues to gain a deeper understanding of their catastrophe risk profiles. This Assistant Vice President (AVP) level, digital development role will focus on unlocking these opportunities by leading the development of new tools and data infrastructure to enhance Marshs use of CAT risk modeling software.
You will be reporting to the Vice President of Catastrophe Modeling responsible for transformative initiatives (digitization, automation and alternative risk transfer) and be part of the global Marsh Digital, Data and Analytics team. The group drives innovations in Marshs business models, advisory services and client/colleague experience across all of Marshs business areas. We are flexible on location of position, but preference is in the Northeast.

We'll count on you to:
* Design interfaces between the cat risk modeling software and Marshs data lake, including collaboration on design of data structures for both client inputs model results
* Create methods of automatically coding policy structures and hypothetical variations on insurance program terms into model inputs
* Design meaningful, interactive cat modeling reporting digital interfaces and the algorithms for processing event-level results data into those interfaces
* Create tools to model and evaluate parametric insurance as an alternative to traditional insurance program structure options
* Implement data quality analysis and enhancement tools into digital, interactive interfaces for clients, leveraging cross-client exposure data
* Create enhanced cross-client insurance benchmarking analyses that combine insurance limits and retentions, pricing and underlying risk profiles
What you need to have:
* Curiosity and eagerness in the application of science and engineering to insurance and risk management for earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and other severe weather
* Bachelors degree in math, science or related fields
* At least 3+ years experience working in-depth with either RMS or AIR catastrophe risk modeling software. In-depth knowledge of the underlying database structure is required. Strong preference will be given to those with past experience building tools in a CAT Modeling context
* Strong programming and database skills SQL required and knowledge in at least one programming language such as VBA or R. Strong preference will be given to those with experience in Python
