Quality Assurance Manager, Omnium
As Quality Assurance Manager of our Crop Protections manufacturing plant, you will supervise QA for the site and manage the QC laboratory. You will have 7 Lab Techs reporting to you.
This is a collaborative environment. You will work closely with the plants management team and QC Laboratory to provide accurate and timely analytical support to plant production teams, minimize the environmental impact, and ensure Quality system requirements are being met at the plant site. You will be able to use your training skills as you coach the plant management team and train plant personnel on quality systems and best practices with the goal of preventing quality deficiencies and promoting continuous Improvement. Contributes to the building of positive plant and divisional quality culture.
50% of time: Manage the Plant Quality system and QC Laboratory to support efficient production and to ensure all Omnium EQMS quality standards are upheld.
1. Monitor, review and evaluate the implementation and communication of Divisional Quality programs and Plant quality practices to ensure overall compliance and effectiveness.
2. Ensure QC Lab procedures are correctly written and executed and QC Lab equipment and instrumentation is properly maintained and is suitable to support the Plants operations.
3 Assist Lab Technicians with training and problem solving to ensure analytical readiness and accuracy.
4. Control lab expense while still providing adequate training and materials to lab technicians and shift coverage to support production requirements
5. Reduced number of quality issues, no critical failures in quality nor costly complaints or brand-name damaging events.

20% of time: Provide Land OLakes and contract customer support to meet business objectives.
1. Provide accurate and timely reports to customers on analytical results.
2. Review QC laboratory data daily, make corrections, follow up issues and re-train personnel as needed.
3. Technically assist field complaints and analyze samples from these complaints
4. The accuracy of lab analytical analysis and reports

10% of time: Assist Divisional Quality Manager in maintaining risk-based QMS programs and procedures, ensuring divisional compliance and training needs are met.
1. Assist in auditing Omnium facilities for QMS compliance.
2. Contribute to Omnium quality systems improvements and updates.
3. Openly shares successes and improvement opportunities between plants to help realize divisional synergies in best practices.
10% of time: Assist production teams on formulation solutions for out of specification batches to enhance productivity.
1. Recommend process controls to avoid out of specification batches
2. Interpret lab analysis and batch sheets to recommend the best fix for the out of specification batches.
3. Recommend process changes based on laboratory data, actual production issues, lab technicians and operators input, and team leaders feedback.
10% of time: Provide a safe and hospitable work environment and promote environmental awareness and impact.
1. Provide and perform regular safety training and schedule technicians to attend monthly safety meetings
2. Initiate good housekeeping practices and schedule needed repairs on the facility in a timely manner
3. Analyze environmental samples and recommend solution to operators and/or environmental specialists
Required Education and Experience:
B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry or related major, with a minimum 20 semester hours credits in chemistry.
5+ years experience as a Lab Technician or Chemist in a chemical industry with some supervisory/leadership experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct Reports include 7 Laboratory Technicians Responsibility over QC laboratory with 25 analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, ICP, Skalar, Malvern PS) Supports QA for plant with 15 different formulation/production lines. 24/7 supervision responsibility. (three shifts/day) Member of the plants issue response team.
