Job Description

Job description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated researcher to work within a group performing highly sensitive immunoassays of biomarkers in neurology, oncology, and infectious disease, and participate in an integrated team developing and performing novel companion diagnostic (CDx) assays that support and enable emerging gene- and cell-based therapies.

Principal responsibilities of this position include supporting: (a) sample organization, preparation, assay analysis and documentation for clinical research studies and diagnostic assay development, b) implementation and validation of new assays, which may include development and optimization, (c) evaluation and implementation of new technology platforms and automation systems, (d) assay training and transfer to a clinical reference laboratory environment and (e) internal studies and external collaborations leading to regulatory approval and assay commercialization.

This position is responsible for analyzing and critiquing results, noting deviations and suggesting relevant experiments to supervisor. Generating reliable and consistent results. Independently conducts important experiments. Implements new protocols, with some guidance. Performs routine tasks competently and may work on problems of moderate to complex scope with supervision. Masters new experimental techniques. Takes direction/coaching on new assignments. Work in cross functional teams. Maintain accurate and Comprehensible experimental notebook. May draft report contributions and give presentations on own work to colleagues. Produces data sufficient to be included in patent or peer-reviewed publication.

Requirements

Required skills:

* BA/BS degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Virology or related area of Biological Sciences with 1-3 years of experience preferred. This is an entry level position.
* Laboratory experience in the areas of biochemistry or cell-, molecular- and immuno-biology and assays. Experience in immuno-assays preferred, with experience in biochemical, cell-based and molecular assays a plus.
* Ability to work closely with laboratory group scientists to support large scale immuno-assay analysis of clinical samples according to quality control systems.
* Ability to develop a more independent role, to conduct and analyze clinical sample assays, critical assay development experiments that further project goals, and troubleshoot assay and instrumentation issues.
* Ability to work within a fast paced, adaptive and collaborative environment.
* Capacity to develop a high degree of technical proficiency and attention to detail.
* Quick and eager to master new techniques and ability to multitask.
* Good organizational, data analysis and documentation skills.
* Prior experience working with automated assay and liquid handling platforms desirable but not required.
