Your Role and Responsibilities
Work Location (State and City): Raleigh, NC Required
Software developer working as part of the IBM Cloud Platform DevOps team to build and support the Logging, Monitoring, and Activity Tracking services within the IBM Cloud. IBM Cloud logging is an integrated offering with LogDNA running on IBM Cloud, and IBM Cloud monitoring is an integrated offering with Sysdig and Sysdig Secure running on IBM Cloud. Activity Tracker is a service which monitors user-initiated administrative activity integrated with LogDNA.
This role includes coding, testing, and supporting the services as well as working with other IBM service teams to provide deeper integration and consistent platform experience. We are looking for motivated candidates willing to get started right away! You will get to interact with cutting edge technology (including Kubernetes, Cloud Object Storage, etc.) and be on a team responsible for IBMs strategic logging and monitoring cloud solution. The candidate will have the opportunity to solve complex distributed system and networking problems for services that are revolutionizing the way organizations manage their applications and IT infrastructure.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
* Object-Oriented development and design principles
* 4+ years of experience with a programming language such as Go, Java, JavaScript
* Computer Science fundamentals in data structures and problem solving
* Great communication skills
* DevOps skills ( Linux, Terraform, Jenkins, python, bash, CI/CD, etc.)
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
* Layer 7 routing network experience is nice to have but not required
* Experience using Docker to build and run applications.
* Experience using Kubernetes as an orchestration system.
* Experience with CI/CD frameworks including Jenkins and Travis CI.
* Experience with concurrent programming and concepts like locks, threads, and semaphores.
* Experience with network/application protocols including HTTPS, TCP/UDP, ARP, and IPv4.
* Experience with distributed system concepts including load balancers and key/value databases.
* Experience with IT automation systems like Terraform or Ansible.
