Your Role and Responsibilities

Today, IBM Cloud spans the globe and delivers continuous service to customers from 39 data centers and growing. The IBM Cloud Transit Gateway team is looking for a talented, innovative and enthusiastic Software Engineering professional to help us continue to build and enhance transit gateway services for IBM Cloud. The IBM Cloud Networking team has a global datacenter presence across 19 countries and 6 continents that enable Watson, Blockchain and IOT solutions. The Network Services team is responsible for allowing customers to connect their networks including VPCs and IBM Cloud Classic resources with top-notch performance, first-rate security, fail-safe reliability and exceptional quality.
An IBM Cloud Networking Software Development engineer will be the key individual responsible for end to end feature enablement across the orchestration layer. You will perform hands-on coding and mentor junior developers, working to increase the knowledge and performance of the collective team. In addition, you will interface with senior architects across several locations to ensure that the overall strategy is communicated and understood.
We are a global team, so communication skills (both verbal and written) are critical as well as flexibility to work with team members in other time zones.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
* 3 years Programming skills (python, bash, go lang, php, awk)
* 3 years Source Control (like Git, Bitbucket, Svn)
* 2 year Working knowledge of cloud network infrastructure technologies
* 1 year Asynchronous and event-driven programming.
* 1 year Container Concepts (LXD, Docker)
* 1 year Orchestration (Kubernetes)
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
* 3 years Network services in cloud network infrastructure
* 2 years Linux OS & Network internals
* 2 years Linux Virtualization technologies relating to network virtualization (KVM, Xen)
* 2 years Experience troubleshooting of Linux, Jenkins, Travis, Hypervisors, and GoLang.
* 1 year Ability to research on new technologies as needed
* Communication skills (both verbal and written) are critical
* Collaboration skills and proven ability to work in a team environment
* 2 years experience in developing, debugging networking protocols such as BGP, LACP
