Your Role and Responsibilities

This role is located in the IBM office in New York City. There is no remote work option post covid. We are co-located in the office, but maintain a responsible consideration of health and safety practices which includes ongoing support for an in-office/remote office balance during these unusual times. We will also consider highly qualified candidates to work in the Southbury, CT office.

There are no relocation funds for this role so you would need to relocate at your own expense.

Senior Cybersecurity Engineers at IBM have a passion for identifying the latest cyber threats to IBM and deploying systems and tools to eliminate these threats. The goal of the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is to protect the IBM computing environment by reducing the probability of, and to minimize the effects of, damage caused by malware and malicious activities. Senior Cybersecurity Engineers will help secure IBM by deploying, tuning, and managing security tools across the IBM computing environment, as well as collaborating on incidence response.

CIO Cybersecurity Engineering is an organization within IBM Assured Identity and Cybersecurity Operations. CIO Cybersecuritys mission is to provide state of the art tooling and automation to secure IBMs global enterprise. CIO Cybersecurity Engineering is seeking an advanced Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team supporting internal cybersecurity tools. We are looking for someone who is able to take lead on projects working independently while also as a member of a diverse team that consists of developers and engineers in the New York and Connecticut region.

As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer you:

* Develop and implement new initiatives to simplify, standardize and optimize cybersecurity tooling & reduce IBMs external risks and increase security.
* Have experience in the cybersecurity life cycle of Protection, Detection & Response
* Have an understanding of user and system requirements
* Will collaborate with Cybersecurity Response and Security Operations teams within IBM
* Will drive updates and enhancements to IBM cybersecurity tools before any impacts to the business.

What Youll Do:

* Work with Linux, Mac, Windows & Mobile platform teams to coordinate security tool software updates.
* Perform data analysis to identify gaps and areas of improvement to assist in detecting indicators prior to compromise.
* Monitor external threat intelligence sources to track and report on attack campaigns external to IBM.
* Gain insight into attacks and responses to incidents within IBM in order to report across teams and provide metrics to IBM Executives.
* Manage cybersecurity software and assist in protecting IBMs global enterprise.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

* 5+ Years as a Cybersecurity Professional
* Experience and skill analyzing the risk and exploitability associated with cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
* Experience researching cybersecurity industry trends.
* Background or experience in, but not limited to, endpoint security tools such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), Network security, Email security, and eDiscovery.
* Experience monitoring security tools for alerts and an ability to identify trends or anomalies within the environment.
* Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
* Ability to create detailed and thorough documentation and communications around tooling and team initiatives.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

* Experience with threat hunting and threat intelligence.
* Comfortable working with a team in an agile environment.
* Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
* Comprehensive overall passion for technology and cybersecurity.
* Experience with SecDevOps to support the continuous integration and delivery cycle
