Managing a team of individual contributors and supervisory level leaders, the Manager of Logistics is responsible for logistics, analysis and transportation of product. Identifying the actions and timing required to successfully execute the fulfillment logistics lifecycle, including direct to consumer, new product launch, promotional events, seasonal peaks, and product replenishment. Contributing to the freight budget management process, measuring compliance and identifying solutions to achieve efficiency, service level and cost improvements. This position will interact with a director level position regularly to receive guidance and feedback. Autonomy and decision making will be the majority of the job with occasional collaborative efforts between departments.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Select carriers and negotiate contract rates.
* Research ideal shipping techniques, routing and carriers.
* Provide analytical support to executives on logistics/supply chain related decision making.
* Establish and manage relationship with logistics services providers, vendor warehouses and small package carriers
* Develop and implement metrics for measuring overall network performance / KPI metrics and lead corrective actions when targets are not being met
* Supervise Logistics Coordinators; providing on-going performance management, coaching, and complete yearly merit reviews
* Ensure all operations adhere to laws, guidelines and ISO requirements.
* Plan and execute shipments between DCs (multi-DC environment) and 3rd party partners.
* Establish and maintain security procedures and protocols for vetted carriers handling high value shipments
* Establish and maintain working relationship with all vendor warehouses and small package carriers
* Provide carrier selection on freight movements for projects not typically handled through the Logistics Coordinators
* Will be involved in periodic vendor selections, which includes analysis of pricing, high value shipping protocols, and non-high value shipments
* Negotiate with contracted carriers for non-high value bulk inbound and outbound truckloads and LTL shipments.
* Problem solve when facing barriers to smooth shipping operations. Barriers could be weather related, system related or any of a variety of local or national events.
* Work with other departments to incorporate logistics with company goals.
Required Skills and Experience
* Bachelors degree with a regionally accredited program or 7+ years relevant work experience
* 5+ years of related management experience
* 2+ years of experience in small parcel logistics or direct to consumer distribution experience is required.
* SME level knowledge of logistics related systems (TMS, PMS, WMS etc.)
* Experience in forecasting, data mining, statistical analysis, optimization, and simulation
* Occasional (less than 10%) International/Domestic travel to manufacturing/supplier sites is required
Preferred Skills and Experience
* Demonstrable success in the supply chain industry at a manager level. Particular focus on omnichannel fulfillment in both retail and digital space.
