Facebook is looking for a strategic, solution-oriented Governance Manager to join our Governance and Strategic Initiatives Team. The team's mission is to partner with teams across Facebook to design, build, and manage new decision-making mechanisms and institutions that give people greater power over Facebooks products and decisions. Current projects include the establishment of the Oversight Board to govern Facebooks approach to content moderation. In this role, you will partner with both internal and external teams to contribute to the standup and implementation of team initiatives, as well as manage ongoing relationships and strategy between Facebook, Oversight Board trustees and board members. Specifically, you will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with Oversight Board trustees and members, including partnering on ensuring alignment on annual business strategy, understanding financial obligations and financing between the entities, and communicating on strategic initiatives to ensure the Oversight Boards fulfillment of its charter and bylaws. You will also be responsible for helping the team to scope and assess new initiatives and understand industry, academic, and civil society perspectives on content moderation. The ideal candidate will be someone who influences through respect and trust. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and have strong attention to detail. You should also have strong communication skills, enabling them to work with key business stakeholders internally and externally to understand program requirements, shape deliverables, and execute both long and short-term program plans. Governance Manager, Global Strategic Initiatives Responsibilities
* Support the Facebook Leadership team in their engagement with Oversight Board members, Trustees, and staff, as well as with external stakeholders and across public events.
* Act as a connector between Facebook and the Oversight Board trustees and members.
* Assist with organizational planning and strategy development, including managing bi-yearly joint-planning sessions, budgeting.
* Manage trainings and briefings of Oversight Board members and trustees.
* Identify issues that may impede the operationalization of projects and facilitate solution generation.
* Develop process improvements in relation to key governance projects and initiatives.
* Participate in cross-functional work with other teams at Facebook to design and execute projects.
* Periodic travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in organization management and development, financial budgeting, and program management
* Experience supporting senior executives in a fast-moving, multicultural and international environment
* Experience managing cross functional projects, dependencies, and bottlenecks, providing escalation management, anticipating and making tradeoffs, balancing business needs versus technical constraints, and integrating governance into operations
* Experience negotiating with and influencing stakeholders and colleagues to achieve results and outcomes
* Experience working in a cross-functional environment, building consensus, and collaborating effectively
Preferred Qualifications
* Juris Doctorate degree
* Experience in financial management
* Experience managing third-party vendor relationships and contracting
