Job Description

As a Packaging Designer at Facebook Reality Labs, you will help bring virtual reality and connected hardware experiences to life. You bring strategic problem solving and industry leading hands-on design skills to create delightful, holistically considered packaging. You have extensive experience designing and shipping consumer product packaging and are comfortable working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams.

Packaging Designer - 3D/Structural Responsibilities

* Design category-defining packaging experiences for Facebooks Hardware business, delivering a seamless & memorable first brand touchpoint for our consumers.

* Define unboxing experience from purchase to set-up, developing ID considered layouts that optimize for physical-to-digital flow.

* Develop the visual and physical language of our brand through the design of our packaging portfolio, considering product presentation, materiality, tonality, and print, and manufacturing.

* Bring user-centric thinking and excellent aesthetic sensibility to align packaging with brand, retail, and customer needs.

* Work closely with User Research teams to uncover packaging insights and test concept performance against demanding product goals.

* Collaborate with Creative Marketing to ensure harmonious integration of 2D and 3D assets.

* Work collaboratively with ID & HW Engineering teams on complex technical programs in a fast-paced environment.

* Conceive elegant, effective ways to address technical engineering challenges and complex shipping requirements.

* Lead/own design projects with internal and external resources.

* Ability to travel (Up to 20%).

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design (3D) or a related field.

* 5+ years of experience as an industrial designer, developing consumer packaging or 3D/physical brand experiences.

* 2+ years experience leading design projects and directing development activities.

* Experience in exploration and refinement of ideas through prototyping.

* Experience in 3D CAD modeling and render packages (SolidWorks, NX, Rhino, Keyshot).

* Problem solving and collaboration experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in Artios CAD.
