Job Description

Facebook designs, builds and operates one of the largest globally-distributed CDNs in the world. As a Network Capacity Engineer for Facebook's Edge Network, you will have a unique opportunity to use your broad engineering skill set to partner with network engineers and optimization engineers to build infrastructure that improves the user experience for billions of people across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Oculus, and many more products. You will manage the global capacity plan for the Edge network, including making critical strategy decisions around architectures, resiliency, and timelines.

Network Capacity Engineer, Edge Responsibilities

* Drive development of network infrastructure strategies with highly technical product, software, and network infrastructure teams

* Perform analysis across data sources to understand forecasts, drive cross functional agreement, and create a global network strategy to meet business needs

* Ensure regional strategies align with the common global strategy goals for the Network team

* Align the reliability strategy across production engineering, backbone engineering, software engineering, and network delivery in order to set global standards

* Drive both strategic and tactical capacity planning to ensure that Facebook products have sufficient network capacity while maintaining operational and financial discipline

* Lead partnerships across various functional teams and organizations to find optimal solutions to drive improvements in infrastructure capacity planning, delivery and management

* Create Product Requirements Documents to guide development of software to effectively and reliably create build plans for the global Edge network

Minimum Qualifications

* Degree in a technology field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience

* 5+ years of experience managing large scale networks or network projects

* Knowledge of network infrastructure and networking planning

* Experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results to various stakeholders

* Experience partnering with highly technical engineering teams to solve open ended issues
