The Director of People Data Privacy for Facebook is responsible for leading our strategy for ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws around the world including, but not limited to, the GDPR, LGPD and CCPA, as well as emerging privacy legislation affecting Human Resources (HR) related data, processes and systems. This position will play a critical leadership role on the HR Risk, Privacy & Compliance team and will oversee Human Resources' data protection practices including policy development, required documentation, privacy risk assessments or projects, systems, and processes, incident response and investigations, and working cross-functionally to align Human Resources' data protection practices with company strategy.
Director of People Data Privacy Responsibilities
* Provide guidance regarding policies and procedures related to global data privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices while aligning to operational risk tolerances as applies to HR managed data
* Undertake systematic data protection compliance audits in accordance with the GDPR articles and other global privacy requirements
* Partner with Supplier and Security teams to ensure that third party vendors comply with the necessary practices and agreements
* Increase employee and cross-functional partner awareness of their obligations to comply with applicable data protection laws through development of communication and training programs
* Provide the HR data protection lens to a strong partnership with the company's DPO and Privacy focused Legal and Security teams
* Partner with complex engineering teams to understand systems configurations and data use to advise on opportunities for better alignment to privacy principles
* Deliver success metrics to all levels that measure the efficiency and effectiveness of HR data privacy programs
* Coordinate the use of external resources involved in the privacy program, including outside counsel, technology vendors etc.
* Advise on and monitor internal data protection activities including data protection impact assessments, internal reviews etc.
* Ensure needed data inventories, data flow maps and data retention schedules are maintained
* Provide information and guidance on the processing of employee, contingent worker and candidate personal data to cross-functional partners
* Manage and develop a team of globally dispersed SMEs and program managers
* Facilitate strategies for optimal organization design and resource allocation and maintain external relevant industry partners for best practice alignment
Minimum Qualifications
* 12+ years program management and/or consulting experience
* 5+ years of increasingly responsible privacy management experience in a technology company or other relevant complex global organization
* 5+ years people management and development experience
* Experience researching, analyzing, interpreting, and apply complex international privacy laws, regulations and guidelines and associated evolving risk profiles
* A thorough understanding of industry best practices in privacy and demonstrated success program advancement
* Experience building trust and influencing across technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels
* Experience effectively prioritizing work, juggling competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Possess the communication and presentation skills needed to articulate developments in privacy laws, regulations, and compliance across the organization
* Demonstrated experience issue spotting and assessing information for risk mitigation
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in Business or a related field
* Certification in the field of privacy, such as by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), or in a related field
* JD or masters degree in Business or related field
* Experience operationalizing HR focused privacy program components
* Experience managing remote teams
