Description
This job is responsible for providing strategic sourcing event support to the Dick's category sourcing managers. Key responsibilities and objectives include: project management support, data collection, event (RFx development, supplier management and bid analysis.
* Provide project management support for each strategic sourcing event. This includes timeline management, preparing key communication and ensuring timely completion of action items.
* Manage all up-front data collection and cleansing efforts. This includes developing and validating the historic, financial baseline for the strategic sourcing event and building cost breakdown documents.
* Assist with supplier negotiations on contracts, pricing, and payment terms which will involve working with legal, finance, risk, and other internal departments.
* Develop and prepare all sourcing event documentation within Dick's eSourcing technology. Manage the communication cadence with the suppliers throughout the duration of the strategic sourcing event. This includes training all suppliers on Dick's eSourcing platform and the eAuction (if applicable and any additional meetings/presentations pre & post event. Develop accurate, detailed bid analysis at the conclusion of the strategic sourcing event and present to business stakeholders.
* Conduct supplier, industry, and market research for assigned categories to assist in sourcing strategy development.
* Develop strong working relationships with key business stakeholders and across the Non-Merchandise Procurement team.
* Interdepartmental activity (i.e. Staff Meeting, Continuous Improvement, training
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Finance, related Business Field
* 3-5 years of experience in Sourcing & procurement exposure, data analytics, prior project management experience, retail experience preferred
* Experience in spend data analytics, sourcing & procurement technology (Ariba or equivalent, PeopleSoft Financials or equivalent
* Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
* Ability to multi-task and problem solve with demonstrated attention to details and deadlines
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* CPM/CPSM Preferred

The Story begins ...
DICK’S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when an 18 year-old Dick Stack was working at an Army surplus store in Binghamton, New York. An avid fisherman, Dick was approached by the store owner to come up with a list of products needed to get into the fishing tackle business. After Dick presented his suggestions, the owner told him he was a dumb kid and had no idea what he was doing. Dick was upset and promptly quit. He went to his grandmother’s house where he spent a lot of time as a kid and told her what had happened.
Dick’s grandmother asked how much it would cost to build the store himself. Dick said it would cost $300. His grandmother then went to the cookie jar where she kept her life savings and gave him $300 and told him “do it yourself.” Dick used that money and his relentless work-ethic to open a bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton. By the late 1970's, he expanded his product line to include much of what you’ll find at DICK’S Sporting Goods today.
