Quality Engineer Job Description and Profile
The Quality Engineer can Implement, monitor and improve the quality of our operational processes and outputs. The Quality Engineer will work with Managers and Supervisors to implement quality measures. The Quality Engineer should have good troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards. The Quality Engineer should be able to train the Quality Inspectors and support the plant as a back up for the Senior Quality Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
* To understand and support company goals, policies, vision and growth
* Priority is to support Customer and Manufacturing area needs as it relates to product quality and process controls
* Manage Customer Quality Rejects and Returned Material
* Internal Auditor of Quality Systems for ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949
* Act as voice of the Customer in relaying feedback to and from the customer
* On time response in the customer portals and review of customer scorecards
* Develop and implement quality control systems; manage updates to the Control Plan 1st Piece Check Instructions and Final Inspection Instructions
* Monitoring and analysis of supplier performance
* Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.
* PPAP submission to Customers and approval of Supplier PPAPs
* Assisting Machining, Assembly, Engineering, and Maintenance in the development and implementation of controls and improvements
* Ensuring the workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations
* Key member of the Fast Response problem solving team who will support the Champion in troubleshooting product and production issues.
* Ensure containment is established and maintained
* Conducts Internal and Layered Process Audits (LPAs)
* Coordinate MSA studies
* Prepare, analyze and report scrap data to manufacturing departments
* Participate and support companys lean manufacturing/kaizen events
* Perform other duties as directed the Quality Manager, Plant Manager and Division Quality Leadership.
Requirements
* This position requires a four-year college degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Engineering or related technical field.
* Analytical skills and problem solving with root cause analysis
* Decision-making skills with autonomy
* Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability and statistical process control (SPC) are required.
* Excellent communications skills and writing abilities
* Must be able to travel 5-10%.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 guidelines.
