The responsibility of the Manager, QA is to lead and manage the Batch Review & Release, Document Control, Incoming Quality Assurance, Outgoing Quality Assurance, and Quality Systems functions of the Quality Assurance Department at Pall Pensacola in a manner that supports the business. Work requires knowledge in these areas plus management knowledge and experience. Responsibilities include training, supervising, managing budgets, assuring product quality, and minimizing TAT to facilitate customer delivery performance.
* Train, develop, and supervise Quality Systems employees in a manner that supports the business objectives.
* Ensure the appropriate dispensation of test information from Microbiology, Analytical Lab and Manufacturing for product release.
* Ensure membrane batch records are reviewed / analyzed / signed for compliance to current Pall Pensacola specifications and OEM specifications
* Ensure the appropriate release of material is determined
* Ensure roll stock is released in inventory system and has a short QA hold time
* Ensure QA labels for manufactured roll stock are generated, accurate, and correctly administered
* Ensure exceptions are initiated as required by the situation
* Review / approve QA purchasing requests and adherence to department budget
* Update specifications as needed
* Update / write job / area of responsibility related procedures
* Conduct Employee Performance Reviews
* Ensure Quality Assurance records (ex: batch folders, batch retains, Paper Vision scanning) are maintained
* Submit bi-weekly report information
* Work with material planner / scheduler and production personnel on material / job priorities to ensure timely flow of product to customers
* Create a team-based environment of process excellence and continuous improvement that empowers employees and results in achievement of business objectives.
* Utilize various computer databases (ex: ERP, Access, Word, Excel, EtQ, Lotus Notes, Quality Analyst, SmartSolve)
* Conduct / participate in new employee interviews for department section
* Provide training to employees (department and plant) as need, project, or regulations may require
* Resource for other departments to determine usability / quality of material for a job
* Ensure requested predelivery samples are sent to customers
* Resource for other Pall facilities to obtain bulk material data
* Develop, implement, train and maintain approved policies and procedures as required. Assist in assuring compliance to EH&S, cGMP, ISO policies and procedures.
* Work closely with materials organization to meet customer delivery goals and minimize inventory levels.
* Communicate organizational objectives and developments to direct reports to stimulate interest and involvement.
* Review and approve documents as required by document type workflow.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a B.S. degree and three or more years of management experience in a quality and manufacturing environment.
* Ability to effectively work with and manage individuals and departments
* Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts and techniques (e.g. converting fractions to decimals, subtraction, division, taking measurements) and the metric system.
* Ability to organize / prioritize tasks
* Ability to have focused attention to detail
* Possess good written and verbal communication skills
* Training in quality aspects such as GMP, ISO
* Ability to work well and deal professionally with others
* Ability to present unbiased, fact-based answers
