The global Finance Function acts as a proactive business partner, advising and making recommendations based upon financial projections and historical performance. Finance also provides financial expertise companywide and ensures accurate and efficient transaction processing.

Purpose of the Position:

To assist the Manager of External Reporting in monitoring, assessing, and communicating changes in SEC disclosure and reporting rules and regulations, and to maintain the status as subject matter expert of major technical accounting areas, including share-based compensation, WASO, earnings per share, and segment reporting. Additional responsibilities may include assisting the Technical Accounting Services group in the review and analysis of complex and judgmental accounting areas and assisting with other financial projects as necessary.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

* Drive the preparation of SEC filing requirements, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, and other filings as required.
* Assist the Manager of External Reporting in monitoring, assessing, and communicating changes in SEC disclosure, reporting rules and regulations which may have an impact on Corning. Develop solutions to complex accounting and reporting issues.
* Communicate new and proposed accounting pronouncements, and their impact to Corning, to management, escalating potential issues along with possible solutions.
* Interface with business leaders to communicate business impact of accounting issues;
* Responsible for accounting for and subject matter expert in:
* equity based compensation;
* executive and non-executive cash based compensation;
* dividend accruals;
* WASO and EPS;
* Segment reporting.
* Assist in coordination with external auditors on accounting and disclosure matters affecting external reporting.
* Responsible for maintaining and coordinating the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM) for Cornings accounting for equity based compensation and cash based compensation, WASO, EPS, and external reporting processes.
* Collaborate with the Technical Accounting Services group in the review and analysis of complex and judgmental accounting areas focusing on presentation and disclosure in External Reporting filings, as well as the technical accounting areas of share-based compensation, WASO and EPS and segment reporting.
* Current on-going projects involving:
* Financial statement and footnote process improvement;
* Leverage disclosure management software tool;
* Assessment of potential third-party data administrators for stock and cash-based compensation;
* Assist in the accounting for acquisitions.
* Future projects can include leading implementation of new accounting standards, researching disclosures and reporting questions, monitoring SEC rule making and interpretations and assisting ARC team members with special projects.

Travel requirements:

* 5%

Education and Experience:

* BS in Accounting
* CPA
* 5-7 years technical accounting experience (i.e., working knowledge of FASB, SEC accounting and reporting rules and interpretations)
* Big 4 and / or combination of Big 4 / large multi-national public company experience

Required Skills:

* SEC reporting experience
* Technical accounting knowledge and proficiency
* Knowledge of financial systems
* Has ability to quickly learn financial systems used by Corning Finance (i.e., PS 8.8, Khalix, Certent disclosure management tool)
* Has necessary level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and/or Project
* Knowledge of financial processes, including preparation of monthly accounting entries for stock-based and cash-based compensation and dividend accruals
