The App Mesh team is looking for software developers to join our rapidly growing team.
Over the last year, the App Mesh team has launched a service that enabled our customers to declaratively define their how applications are connected, observed and secured. We have built a compute agnostic service mesh that works with EKS,k8s, ECS, EC2, and plan on supporting more (https://github.com/aws/aws-app-mesh-roadmap/issues/33). Our team has adopted an open product development roadmap (https://github.com/aws/aws-app-mesh-roadmap/issues) and we are committed to contributing back to open source projects that we benefit from (https://github.com/envoyproxy/envoy/pull/8862, https://github.com/envoyproxy/envoy/pull/8526). We have built our services on the same technologies and infrastructure our customers use, AWS Fagate, Lambda, EC2. As we continue to grow our service and customers we will be working to build new integrations, utilize more of AWS and contribute more back to open source.
As part of the AWS App Mesh team you will be responsible for building the our core services and integrations with AWS technologies, and open source software and partner services that our customers use today. You will work on improving Envoy and helping create the UX that defines the terms application networking and service mesh. You will be asked to think in terms of features, sacale and security at an global AWS scale. You will have the opportunity use your passion and customer focus to work in the open with our product managers, customers, open source software maintainers, and partners to make App Mesh delightful for our customers.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We dont like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we dont get paged for the same issue twice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
At least 7 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design.
At least 5 years experience designing, building, shipping, and maintaining production software as an engineer
Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Able to work in a diverse team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MS in Computer Science or related field.
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
