We are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) who can build a team with the help of a core set of individuals and go for greater heights. A strong passion for hiring and forming a team.
This opportunity comes with technical problems with solutions that are not yet defined. As the SDM for the Platform and Architecture team, you will own the shared infrastructure that drives the Amazon Care business, including shared libraries and core services. Your team will be responsible for setting a high standard for software development within our organization, and for solving common problems related to security and compliance so that other teams are free to focus on delivering customer value.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 6+ years total experience; or Bachelors Degree with 8+ years total experience.
3+ years of experience leading a software development team through multiple product/platform releases.
4+ years of experience contributing to real-world software development.
1+ years experience maintaining software libraries that are used by many teams, such as open source packages.
1+ years experience building services using serverless architectures on AWS (lambda, ecs, etc).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with common authentication and authorization architectures, such as IAM.
Meets/exceeds Amazons leadership principles requirements for this role
Meets/exceeds Amazons functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
Experience architecting and deploying services with demanding security and availability requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, highly collaborative environment.
Track record of developing engineers through various career stages and building high-performance teams.
Experience building complex, high-performance, and highly-available distributed software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement of systems, software and processes through data analysis and metrics.
