DESCRIPTION

The Selling Partner Infrastructure and Core Experience (X) accelerator (SPICEX) organization owns Amazon Site Builder systems and tools upon which Amazon teams build Selling Partner experiences. We are looking for a passionate and innovative Software Development Manager to join our newly formed Strategic Initiatives team. Our mission is to transform our customer experience (CX) and operational processes by isolating our investments on the business capabilities we aim to offer our customers. This teams owns the projects and tools to accelerate web development and increase developer satisfaction, at Amazon. We achieve this through a suite of products: UI Components, Build & Deploy Webpack and CDK constructs, browser metrics and logging libraries, and a browser Weblab client.
You will be a part of a dynamic group of engineers where agility, teamwork, and creative thinking are highly valued. The ideal candidate will demonstrate thought leadership with both business and technical acumen. You will have the opportunity to build, scale and shape the direction of this business. This role requires technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and strong business judgment. You will be responsible for systems that aim to be deployed globally, delivering an exceptional customer experience. In addition, you will partner with product management and senior leaders to ensure the success of our products.

As a software development leader you will

Lead engineers and collaborate with engineering leaders across Selling Partner Interfaces in the design, development, deployment, and ongoing operations of the tools, processes, and services that our customers depend on.
Build and implement the long-term technical strategy and roadmap for Strategic Initiatives team.
Work closely with other leaders and their teams to deliver platform features that require cross-team leadership.
Deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver what our customers need.
Ensure that the tools, processes, and services you own or help deliver are well designed, scalable, highly available, and deliver timely results.
Regularly dive into architecture, code, test plans, project plans, deployments, and operations to drive excellence on your team and all projects that your team participates in.

The role can be based in either Seattle, WA., Santa Cruz, CA. or Detroit, MI.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
Demonstrated ability to communicate a technology strategy and roadmap based on short and long-term priorities and the corresponding mechanisms required to deliver the desired results.
Strong OO analysis and design skills in Java, C++, or any modern programming language.
Demonstrated experience in delivering software projects using Agile / Scrum methodologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical leadership.
Works well in a dynamic team environment and is able to effectively drive cross-team solutions having complex dependencies and requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Established skill designing and developing simple solutions to complex, interactive customer experiences.
A strong track record of delivery for large, cross-functional technical projects.
Entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong program and product management skills.
Experience establishing and evolving engineering development processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
