The Technology Department has an opening for a Senior Cloud Engineer. This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona or Pleasanton, California.

Position Purpose

The Senior Cloud Engineer is a highly technical role responsible for running and managing Albertsons private cloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure. Our hybrid cloud infrastructure runs modern workloads, from mission-critical workflows to containerized apps, in the private cloud, public cloud, and at the edge.

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to lead and accelerate our journey towards this vision - combining converged and composable infrastructure (servers, storage, switch) with full stack software, and cloud services into a consistent platform that will support the company on its commercial cloud adoption plans.

The candidate will have in depth understanding of converged and hybrid cloud infrastructure technologies. The desired candidate will be able to interface with both cloud technical teams and cross IT and business organizations. She/he is viewed as a technical resource and/or subject matter expert by peers within IT.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The candidate will provide hands-on technical management of Albertsons private cloud infrastructure and commercial cloud deployments, with specific responsibility for:

* Leading and managing the solution design and administration tasks for our virtualized on-premise cloud infrastructure.
* Providing engineering development and operation support around cloud deployments in Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud.
* Assist with cloud migration plans and operational best practice guidelines based on business or technical requirements.
* Participate in engineering discussions to understand business and technical objectives to develop effective solutions.
* Daily oversite of all things VxBlock, VxRail leveraging element tools such as VxBlock Central, UCS Manager, Log Insight, Network Insight, vROPS, RP4VM, and vCenter.
* Assist in support of the automation workflow in ServiceNow and vRA.
* Support of Citrix or Horizon VDI hosted Infrastructure
* Support on-call rotations for operational duties

Qualifications:

* Ideal candidates will have a senior level experience managing Data Center Virtualization and Commercial Cloud deployments. Specific areas of focus should include:
* Technical Skills
* Demonstrated expertise building and managing highly scaled production infrastructure in the cloud (Azure required; GCP, OpenStack a plus)
* Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting managing cloud-native applications in Docker containers with Kubernetes orchestration.
* Strong knowledge of Bamboo, Jenkins, Artifactory or similar CI/CD tools Proficiency in Python, bash or other programming language
* Familiarity with site and infrastructure monitoring systems (like ELK, Datadog, AppDynamics, New Relic, Splunk, Sumologic, Grafana)
* Knowledge of cloud infrastructure principles (load balancing, high availability, server-based and serverless architecture, database configurations)
* Design, Implementation and Troubleshooting experience with VMware ESXI 6.7/6.5 Hosts, VMware vSphere, Vcenter, VRealize Suite, Vrealize Operations.
* Experienced in administration of cisco UCS chassis, creating UCS Blade server profiles, templates, and installing of ESXI hosts.
* Strong familiarity with scripting (Unix Shell / PowerCLI / PowerShell)
* Experience with storage products EMC VMAX, VNX, XtremeIO, Storage Arrays.
* High-level understanding of networking protocols and components such as: HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, Subnetting and Load Balancing
* Strong understanding of ITIL and Agile disciplines
* Soft Skills:

* Strong interpersonal, communication skills are essential.

* Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis
* High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
* Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives of which he/she will apply their applicable business, technical and system functionality background.
* Prior experience as a Sr. Engineer for medium to large IT projects

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S.
