What you will be doing

This position will play a vital role in the success of our benefits delivery to our 300,000 team members. In concert with the VP Benefits and the VP Employee Service Center, this person will lead and develop the benefits administration and delivery team to streamline delivery and support in-house benefits administration. The successful candidate will be someone that can demonstrate an ability to evaluate and create opportunities to drive efficiency and build a world-class benefits delivery team. In addition to offering static opportunities like annual open enrollment and M&A integrations, this position will also partner with Benefits Strategy to help shape and craft new offerings. Someone that can build relationships with key internal stakeholders, (Payroll, HRIS, etc.) is key to success in this role.

This role will be based near one of our divisional offices: Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Pleasanton, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Boise, ID, Phoenix, AZ, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA or Boston, MA.

Core responsibilities:

* Evaluate and create opportunities to streamlines processes and procedures to build a world class benefits delivery function, putting the associate at the center of all interactions.

* May lead or partner with benefits strategy to implement new products, plans and/or vendors.

* Lead/own annual open enrollment and M&A integrations.

* Develop streamlined process for employees and HR to report issues; implement system to track and report on trends.

* Build relationships with key internal stakeholders (payroll, HRIS, IT, etc) to proactively partner on issues and projects

* Oversee and lead the benefits delivery system

* Manage benefits ticketing system, streamline process as needed, inform strategy team of trends

* Lead annual enrollment, ensuring best in class associate experience, and on time delivery

* Manage outsourced benefits administrator to establish seamless partnership and resolve issues quickly

* Manage processing benefit interfaces, ensuring interfaces run smoothly and error free

* Oversee COBRA and retiree plan administration

* Oversee benefits invoicing and billing

* Oversee ACA administration

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

* Bachelor's degree required. Relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable

* Ten to fifteen years' benefits administration experience.

* At least five years of management experience of multiple team members to strong results preferred.

* Experience with Oracle preferred

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
