This position is accountable for managing all Warehousing, Shipping, Receiving and Rework activities for the Facility while implementing, maintaining, and supporting continuous improvement in the Five Focus Areas of Operational Excellence: Safety, People, Service, Quality, and Cost. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, maintaining continuous improvement efforts for the facility by using the tools of Six Sigma, maintaining ISO certification, focusing on customer needs, preparing annual budgets as well as long-range plans, mentoring and leading direct reports, and supporting the facility goals of maintaining VPP Certification.
Major Tasks Include, but are not limited to:
Determine and establish procedures, programs and reports to maintain and improve facility efforts in the Five Focus Areas: Safety, People, Service, Quality and Cost
Determine, oversee and positively affect controlled departmental budget.
Coordinate and plan work requirements for all areas of the warehouse to ensure all jobs are completed in an efficient manner and orders are shipped within appropriate timeframes
Supervise and direct warehouse Unit Managers and Team Leaders to assure safe, timely, and cost effective shipping and receiving methods
Direct and oversee those activities that ensure the facility is capable of meeting all pertinent requirements (regulatory, corporate, group, supply chain, etc.)
Seek out and establish cost improvement projects.
Identify shipment consolidation opportunities in order to minimize freight costs
Recommend changes and/or enhancements to warehousing systems
Ensure shipments are distributed in compliance with VOC State regulatory laws
Ensure hazardous material shipments are properly handled, loaded and packed and marked in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
Provide proof of delivery information on request.
Maintain records and provide for the disposition of customer returns and/or damages shipments
Basic Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment visa status
A four year Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or eight years work experience
Must have at least 2 years supervisory experience.
Must have at least 3 years of experience in an operations, distribution or manufacturing environment.
Other Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of inventory programs
Knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen
Six Sigma certification (Black or Green Belt) is preferred
Must have strong support and working knowledge of safety programs, continuous improvement, employee involvement, and participative management.
Must display exceptional interpersonal skills, verbal and non-verbal, to communicate, direct, and train Unit Managers, Team Leaders, and Team Members.
