As an Estimator for our California Buildings district located in Los Angeles, CA, you will contribute to our team by:

* Conducting detailed analysis of contract documents (isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings) and specifications for large hard bid/lump sum and construction management projects to determine overall project requirements (bonding, insurance, etc.).
* Taking ownership of medium-to-large estimates or a component of larger estimates and is accountable for that specific work scope.
* Identifying associated risk factors, including monitoring of published addenda that may alter original project scope.
* Assisting estimate lead to establish a pursuit schedule (estimate and proposal).
* Establishing a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for medium-to-large projects.
* Completing full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials for medium-to-large scopes.
* Capturing and understanding trade scopes, and communicates gaps/missing information.
* Reviewing current material and construction equipment pricing from purchasing department and ensures that bid validity and price escalation are addressed and meet projects needs.
* Validating construction equipment and material rates for basic inclusions, (e.g., currency, freight, taxes, bid exclusions).
* Completing material quantities and construction equipment list for lead estimator.
* Identifying and giving lead estimator special requirements in technical specifications, and requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, temporary facilities, and services.
* Pricing productivity impacts: weather, shifts, location, labor availability, site constraints, operating facility, etc.
* Leading pricing of the general expense and project-specific general requirements for medium-to-large projects (lump sum and construction management).
* Other duties as required.

What you will bring to the role:

* Postsecondary diploma or degree in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
* Eight (8) years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating along with 612 months of on-site experience preferred.
* Successfully led pursuits valued at up to $150 million in delivery model hard bid / lump sum, construction management / cost reimbursable / target price and/or design-build.
* Experience with self-perform estimate and productivity understanding.
* Design management experience.
* Knowledge of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines gained through site visits or on-site experience.
* Able to use contract terms to identify risks/opportunities with contract/project documents.
* Understands different bid processes and contract delivery type methods: hard bid / lump sum, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices, and construction management / cost reimbursable.
* Understands construction sequence and can produce a bar chart schedule; recognizes milestone date impacts.
* Experience estimating multiple scopes and has a working knowledge of applicable products and systems.
* Able to build an estimate without drawings/specifications.
* Working knowledge of CAD software.
* Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and internal operations systems: scheduling and estimating software.
