The selected manager will be the central point of contact for the Civil amp; Commercial Satellites (CCS) Systems Engineering (SE) organization supporting the technical program execution and ensuring quality amp; consistency for the Satellite Servicing and GEO Communications operating units. Responsible for identifying Satellite Servicing amp; GEO Comm. resource needs (people, tools, areas, support services) and working with stakeholders to address these needs. Responsible for managing technical personnel (including other managers) assigned to a department with a staff size of approximately 25 members. Will ensure qualified and appropriate personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools, etc.) are assigned to meet the staffing needs of Satellite Servicing amp; GEO Comm. programs, and track and execute peer reviews for major program events. The role includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.

In addition, the candidate will be a working Systems Engineer and/or Technical Leader on program(s) in the CCS Satellite Servicing and/or GEO Comm. business areas ndash; the split between direct and indirect is approximately 75%/25%. Regarding program assignments, the candidate will be responsible for technical, cost, and schedule requirements of pre-proposal efforts, proposal development, design and development, internal/customer design reviews, technical documentation, program implementation, launch and mission operations, and disposal.

The selected candidate performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Technical Field +20 years of experience, or Masters of Science Degree in technical field +18 years of experience.

Experience leading, supporting and operating GEOStar-2/3 or GEO Communications space vehicles and missions for at least 2-3 years.

Experience leading, supporting, and/or operating activities for the Mission Extension Vehicle space missions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree

Knowledge and experience with satellite serviceing and robotic space systems.
