Description:
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to support the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) program within Tactical Strike Missiles (TSM). The program is in development where concepts are created, designs are involving, trade studies are performed, advanced technologies are tested, and preparations are made ahead of production. The primary mission of this position is to ensure new designs are producible (Design for Manufacturing / Assembly) in a full rate manufacturing environment at a competitive cost (Design to Cost).
The position will serve as a Manufacturing Engineering point of contact to the other functions. Frequent communication and collaboration with other disciplines including Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Finance, Production Planning and Control, Contracts, Master Planning, and Program Management are required. It can also involve developing or maturing manufacturing readiness assessments, creating manufacturing plans, make or buy analysis, presenting at various design and manufacturing reviews, travel to various manufacturing facilities including suppliers and other Lockheed sites to support testing and hardware or tooling related issues that may arise.
The position will evaluate designs and provide manufacturing feedback to lead to affordable and manufacturable designs while still meeting performance requirements. The ability to question design requirements that drive cost to ensure there is good technical justification is desired. Being able to build relationships and work in a collaborative environment with other disciplines and across multiple locations is essential.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline.
Demonstrated effective communication skills including verbal, listening, technical writing and presentations.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including team building, collaboration and developing enduring business relationships.
Ability to liaison between LM Subcontractors, internal disciplines, and Production Operations.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex.
Experience manufacturing circuit card assemblies to J-STD-001 standards
Ability to interpret drawings, CAD models, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, product/performance specifications and other systems integration technical data
Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
Ability to travel domestic and/or international
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Skills:
Bachelors or higher degree in technical discipline (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, etc.)
Experience with development programs and/or conceptual designs
Experience in design for manufacturing / assembly or design to cost
Manufacturing Background
Experience Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with additive manufacturing, machining, welding, casting, and/or mechanical assembly
Knowledge of the SAP MRP production control system
Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
