Description:
The LCS/MMSC Sustainment Ship Superintendent will be the Lockheed Martin Team Leader for the scheduling and management of maintenance-related equipment issues for LCS/MMSC Class ships. This person shall coordinate operational and support issues with the customer, the ships crew, and the Industry Team supporting the ship. Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. This individual leads the team that conducts each Industrial Post-Delivery Availability (IPDA) and provides waterfront support to the ships through their sail-away and transit to homeport. In addition, their technical role may include providing ship engineering expertise to investigate, plan and estimate ship repair and modernization efforts. They are expected to perform the following tasks:
1. Manage the execution of ship repair availabilities, coordinating industry work within the allotted schedule to meet our Navy Customers requirements;
2. Independently review design and repair specifications for the maintenance of Shipboard Mission Systems (SM) and Hull, Mechanical and Electrical () Systems;
3. Evaluate warranty work items for applicability and coordinate design solutions to correct discrepancies;
4. Support testing, troubleshooting, and repair of LCS/MMSC equipment;
5. Validate and document material deficiencies on LCS/MMSC Class Ships.
6. May Require travel.
Basic Qualifications:
1. Experience in overseeing the troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing ship systems with:
a. Effective knowledge of ship hull, mechanical and electrical systems implementation, and integration.
b. Effective knowledge of ship navigation, communication, and combat systems implementation and integration.
2. Ability to research design and implementation issues, read and translate ship drawings, and communicate implementation approaches and deficiencies.
3. Shipyard experience
4. Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
5. Ability to build effective relationships with Ships Crew and Navy customers.
Desired Skills:
1. Management experience in a Major Ship Repair Facility.
2. US Navy or US Government leadership experience in an engineering or combat systems maintenance role.
3. Prior experience monitoring ship equipment such as propulsion plant, electric plant, damage control or safety equipment systems.
4. Navy maintenance process and resources familiarity.
5. Knowledge of LCS Program, the ship, and its systems.
6. Bachelors degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering or equivalent ship development or naval engineering education and experience.
