Work location for this position is south of Annapolis MD area. This position is for a Lead Systems Engineer on our Hardware Engineering and Maintenance team providing 24x7 operational support to a complex ground based communication system over a geographically diverse architecture. Primary responsibility will be to provide technical and managerial leadership to the Operations and Maintenance shift teams. Direct interaction with ops customer and mission partners is required to provide technical assessment and operational work around recommendations. Daily activities may include, but not limited to, discrepancy report work off and resolution, O&M training/mentoring, trending, procedure development, data collection, fault isolation, and performing real-time manual actions to restore system capabilities. Responsibilities include leading preventative and corrective maintenance support support across multiple external interfaces over a robust multi-tiered network. Candidate will work closely and be the point of contact (POC) with delivering factories to provide support to development activities, installation efforts, and special test configurations. Secondary responsibility will be a subsystem responsible engineer (SRE) for a minimum of at least one subsystem specific to RF communication system across multiple geographical locations. As an SRE, the candidate must have a large amount of experience with both the technical and non-technical aspect of the associated subsystem. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information prior to starting.
Basic Qualifications:
-Current TS/SCI clearance
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Must be able to climb multiple sets of stars, lift/carry up to 50lbs, and work in non-environment-controlled work spaces.
-Direct experience of RF communications antennas
-Direct experience networks, IT systems, and real-time software applications supporting communications systems.
-Proven working knowledge of varied test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum/link/network analyzers, power meters and signal generation equipment.
Desired Skills:
-Proven leadership experience on small maintenance teams
-Information Technology experience with an IAT level 1 certification.
-Knowledge and experience with facility support systems for RF terminal systems (power, HVAC, etc.)
-Prior military electronics and/or satellite communications training/experience
-Bachelors degree with 2 years of relevant, professional experience.
