Honeywell Aerospace Clearwater is seeking a Senior Materials Technician to support the analytical lab activities within the Clearwater Materials Engineering organization. This is a challenging, multi-dimensional role that requires the individual to multi-task across several concurrent activities and assignments and be able to effectively function in an environment where the work assignments are ever-changing.
The Sr Materials Technician role focuses on hands-on operation of a wide variety of analytical equipment to support both receiving inspection testing of production materials as well as engineering evaluations and failure analysis. Primary work assignment will be in the Chemistry & FTIR Labs, but they will also support other labs such as Fluids, Metals, Polymers, XRF, etc. on an as-needed basis. The candidate will interface with Lead Technicians and Lab Work Directors, as well as personnel from other organizations. It is expected that the ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to schedule activities with minimal oversight.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with a wide variety of analytical instruments and techniques. Special consideration will be given to expertise in Fourier Transform Infrared, Gas/Liquid/Ion Chromatography, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Thermal Analysis (DCS, TMA, TGA). Other desired areas of expertise include metallography, optical microscopy, and adhesive mixing/packaging.
The candidate will also have the ability to be trained and perform as a back-up in multiple lab areas and maintain currency in their skills to allow for seamless movement of personnel between laboratories to support changing workloads and priorities.
YOU MUST HAVE
* High School Diploma or GED
* Minimum 2 years chemistry lab industrial experience and hands-on operation of analytical instruments such as FTIR, Gas/Liquid/Ion Chromatography, XRF, DSC, TGA, and/or TMA.
* Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements

* Experience with aerospace materials & processes
* Experience in other laboratory techniques/instrumentation such as metallography, polymers testing, etc.
* Ability to interface with Honeywell ISC and Engineering customers and consistently meet customer requested commitments on all work
* Ability to cope with a high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and many jobs are being worked at the same time
* Understanding of standard analytical laboratory techniques and general chemistry principles, specimen preparation, titration preparation and use of typical chemistry lab analytical instruments
* Awareness of safe laboratory practices, including proper procedures for handling, storage and disposal of strong acids, bases, volatile solvents, toxic chemicals; and an understanding of their hazards
* Ability to interface with engineering personnel to resolve technical issues. Must be able to clearly articulate in verbal and written communication the technical concepts related to lab work and failure analysis
