Laboratory Technicians work under the direction of a staff member in an analytical, research (R&D), process and production support, or technical service laboratory or within a division technical staff group.

Responsibilities may include:

* Conducting technical experiments and projects
* Leading and participating on multi-disciplinary teams
* Working with quality systems or providing reports to governmental or regulatory agencies
* Developing hands-on and in-depth technical expertise
* Working in a fast paced, results-oriented team environment to assist in developing new technologies to provide solutions to customers' needs
* Preparing and supporting new or established technologies for commercial products and processes that may include:
* Experimental materials and techniques
* Scale-up evaluations
* Analytical measurements
* Assisting customers with process optimization and new applications
* Dealing with customer inquiries/complaints
* Developing new formulations (i.e. fitness for use)
* May work directly with external and internal customers in answering technical questions
* Documenting experimental work and writing technical and invention reports
* Working safely and promoting a safe work environment.

Candidate should possess:

* Laboratory Technician Qualified with 51 credit hours as described below is required.
* 4 year Degree in Scientific Field preferred.
* Formal training in general laboratory procedures.
* Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology.
* Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
* General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Educational Requirements:

Chemistry 23 hours Mandatory courses are General Chemistry I and II with labs, Quantitative Analysis with lab (can be taken within 1 year of employment if lacking), and Organic Chemistry I and II with labs. Examples of other science courses to meet the 23 hours of Chemistry credit are: Biochemistry, Qualitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Instrument Analysis, Chemical Calculations, Environmental Analysis, Seminar in Chemistry, Chemical Research, Advanced Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, and Chemical Engineering Courses

Physics/Science 4 hours - Mechanics Heat, Sound, Light, Electricity & Magnetism, Introductory Physics, General Physics, Biology, General Science

Mathematics 3 hours - College Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Math for Engineering Technologies

English 6 hours - English Composition, Speech & Listening, Technical Report Writing, Grammar, Oral & Written Composition

Electives 15 hours - Any course carrying college level credit except the following: Military Science, Freshman Orientation, Physical Education, Music, Health
