Advanced Design Engineer
SUMMARY:
The Advanced Design Engineer is responsible for design changes to existing product, product improvements, cost reductions and New product designs. This includes the design documents such as 3D models, 2D prints and design calculations supporting the design being generated or changed. Support Quality, Manufacturing Engineers and Customer Service by evaluating issues and participating, leading and implementing, as necessary, corrective actions for problems that occur internally or externally on Heavy Duty product. This role will support VOC, design and implementation of new products, modifications to existing products, change management, and monitoring / resolving customer field service problems. This position is located in our Madison, Indiana office.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
1. Participate as an active member in the research and development of new products for the automotive maintenance industry and other related products as deemed necessary.
2. Develop customer design/function requirements data file through continuous examination of VOC.
3. Develop new products and consistently enhance existing products to competitively meet current and future customer requirements with a global platform mentality.
4. Bring new products from design to market in a minimal time frame at the optimal cost. Must be able to manage multiple projects, objectives and deadlines concurrently.
5. Responsible for insuring the reliability of products within their respective environment and lifetime. Facilitate resolution to field problems.
6. Support value-engineering efforts and incorporate those new ideas into future designs.
7. Facilitate and measure competitor performance to customer expectations and implement designs to win in the marketplace.
8. Must adhere to established engineering procedures for the design, test, and analysis of products to carry out validation testing of designs. This is to insure continuous improvements in product reliability.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
* Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering
* Experience: Minimum of 3 years company experience or equivalent experience in a progressive, customer oriented, metal fabrication environment. Experience in contactors, relays, hydraulic motion controls, PID control loops solenoids, etc. desired.
* Must be a hands on oriented individual comfortable working and communicating among metal fabrication professionals.
* Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Proficient in CAD software, PTC CREO (Pro/Engineer) preferred
Preferred:
* Experience in Finite Element Analysis (Mechanica)
* Experience with PTC Mathcad or similar design calculation software
* Experience with metal fabrication and hydraulic systems
