Position Summary:
The Materials Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans that meet or exceed organization goals for customer/supplier on-time delivery, inventory turns/reduction, cost reduction initiatives, and efficient purchasing and planning processes. S/he will lead a culture of continuous improvement, implementing purchasing and cost reduction initiatives, developing and managing procurement and supply chain systems that ensure a supply base that meets delivery, quality and cost requirements. S/he will work within and communicate across various teams that enable the alignment with growth and profitability targets in DESTACO.
The Materials Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is located in Mt. Juliet, TN. This position requires minimal travel (less than 10%). The position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers, and to work and to communicate across the organization with manufacturing, finance, and product development, in global and virtual teams, and at various levels across the organization.

* Plans and directs the material planning and material logistics functions to meet facility plan objectives and satisfy customer needs.
* Manages inventory levels through monitoring and analyzing sales to minimize inventory investment while supporting on-time delivery and ITO goals.
* Oversees and coordinates the implementation of cost reduction initiatives to maximize savings while reducing potential stock- out situations as identified from Global Sourcing.
* Works closely with the global sourcing team to develop, manage, and maintain a robust supply base that delivers on time, with favorable quality, and costs.
* Monitors supply base performance and communicates to suppliers per ISO procedures. Maintains open communication with suppliers to communicate changes in business processes and negotiates contracts for all direct, MRO, and services and assists supply base in resolving any issued corrective actions and supports the development and implementation of process improvements identified by the supply base.
* Supports finance and corporate gross margin goals through active participation in margin review meetings, identifying cost reductions through manufacturing improvements or direct material price reductions. Provides accurate cost information to establish correct cost standards.
* Creates procedures and reporting for effective inventory management. Ensures accuracy of data in the system including location, quantity on hand and value.
* Ensures all customer orders and/or outsourced manufacturing is appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentation.
* Motivates and manages materials team to accomplish annual goals/objectives set at the individual and organizational levels.
* Coaches, provides feedback to and develops supply chain team members. Motivates and manages the supply chain team to achieve annual goals/objectives set at the individual and organizational level.

Job Requirements:
Experience:
* Minimum of five (5) years experience in global purchasing/sourcing and supply chain management.
* Experience in a high-volume purchasing and material management environment.
* Working knowledge of Just-In-Time practices (JIT), Kanban, Min Max, PFEP and other inventory planning methods.
* Experience analyzing data and implementing plans to increase inventory turns, and deriving inventory targets based on consumption trends.
* Extensive experience in collaborating with leaders and leading teams.
* Previous experience in working cross regionally or as part of a multi-national organization.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with particular focus on data management modules. Ex Excel, Access
* Tooling, technical and/or automotive background preferred.

Education and Certification Qualifications:

* APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred
