Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an NMR Spectroscopist to join our Measurement Science Team at our Wilmington, Delaware Research Center. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and global R&D. This position will report to a group leader of the Measurement Science Team.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Interface with internal and external technical personnel as a technical expert in structural elucidation using NMR techniques
* Cultivate technical excellence within the Measurement Science Team to support Ashlands growth strategy
* Compile, analyze and interpret analytical data. Develop structure/property/performance relationships.
* Present study results to internal and external audiences
* Manage multiple projects, estimate timelines and resources, and coordinate efforts to meet timelines.
* Work closely with other R&D sites and technical support teams to solve challenging technical problems for customers.
* Maintain lab notebooks and logbooks in accordance with company guidelines.
* Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

* Advanced technical degrees (B.S, M.S. or Ph.D.) with relevant industrial experience in structure elucidation and qualitative/quantitative multi-nuclear/multi-dimensional NMR spectroscopy
* Strong hands on skills in the sample preparation, operation and data interpretation of NMR
* Strong competency in structural elucidation using NMR
* The ability to make and support independent decisions
* A record of successful technical achievement
* Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
* Ability to travel within United States and overseas as needed for product support
* Must be authorized to work in the United States

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

* Experience with structural elucidation using mass spectrometry
* Experience with various separations techniques (GC, LC, IC, SEC and/or CE)
* Experience with LIMS
* Polymer chemistry and characterization
* Carbohydrate chemistry and characterization
