The Opportunity

Were looking for people with a solid background or interest in building successful customer-facing mobile products and applications; youre comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; you have exquisite attention to detail; and youre comfortable learning new technologies and systems. You have a good background and passion in building successful Android applications in Kotlin and/or Java. You have experience integrating with a diverse set of services and APIs that deliver impactful products to customers. You are comfortable in dealing with change. You love to take initiative and have a bias towards action.

The Work Itself

* Directly contribute to core interface design and write code. Serve as a role model for software design and scalable systems architecture by developing, sharing, and setting the quality bar for Ally as a whole
* Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable and performant mobile applications
* Make significant hands-on contributions to deliver critical projects and bring value to customers
* Lead by example to uphold high engineering standards, and elevate quality and engineering efficiency across Ally
* Collaborate with partners across the organization including dependent engineering teams, product, design, infrastructure, and operations

The Skills You Bring

* A solid technical background, with 5+ years of experience in Android development. Ideally, including software delivery experience as a generalist working on both the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users. We work mostly with Kotlin, retrofit, rxjava, okhttp, and dagger
* A true passion for user experience, as evidenced by an obsessive user focus
* Track record of listening well and internalizing the best ideas from all over the organization while also setting a vision that others are excited to get behind
* Proven to prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what is lasting and scalable
* Experience in test driven development and deployment through Agile and DevOps methodology, mindset and best practices
* Hands-on experience with automation including test automation, feature flags, and automated releases/rollbacks
* Thrives in a collaborative environment involving different partners and domain experts
* Enjoyment in working with a diverse group of people with different expertise
