POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cloud Architect leads the effort to research, analyze, design, propose and deliver solution architectures leveraging the AWS products and services. The Cloud Architect is also in charge of defining and maintaining solution roadmaps, in accordance with business needs. The Cloud Architect is instrumental in supporting Air Liquide's innovation and growth by delivering secure, cost-efficient, performant and reliable solutions for the business in the public cloud.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
* Deliver cost estimation for the proposed architectures
* Challenge existing architectures to improve security, cost, resiliency, performance, reliability
* Collaborate with Cloud experts in the other Air Liquide's Hubs to contribute to both the Americas and the Global Cloud Services roadmap construction and execution
* Deploy services and solutions infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure as code with a strong emphasis on standardization and reusability
* Collaborate closely with the Americas Cloud Services operations team to transition the delivered infrastructure and support the operations automation objective
* Collaborate with other GIO service lines in the Americas (Security, Network, End-User services, Processes and Continuous Improvement) to integrate the cloud infrastructure in the broader Air Liquide context and influence their roadmap towards a better cloud integration
* Share expertise and communicate the value of the public cloud - and more specifically AWS, to the applications team in the Americas
* Engage the AWS Enterprise support and account teams on AWS roadmap, feedback, technical, governance and architectural topics. Facilitate contacts between the Americas applications teams and the AWS teams.
* Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
* Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, and recommending system improvements.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other relevant area (or equivalent experience)
* 3 to 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure in large multinational companies
* In depth knowledge of AWS products and services and 2 to 5 years of experience in designing, deploying and running AWS solutions in a complex environment - from server-based infrastructure to serverless
* Knowledge and hands-on experience with the following concepts: AWS Landing Zone ; AWS multi-account strategy ; AWS Well-architected framework
* Conversant with Infrastructure as code, Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools (GitLab, GitLab CI, Ansible, Packer, Python, CloudFormation, Shell, Powershell)
* Experience in AWS cost optimization or as part of a FinOps team
* System administration (Linux or Windows) experience would be a plus
* Strong appetite for the latest Cloud technologies, trends, standards, products, & applicability
* Ability to think creatively and innovate with iterations
* Critical thinking and problem solving skills
* Willing to share knowledge and foster sharing within a community of practice
* Able to simplify and synthesize complex situations with consideration to all elements
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills -- team player
