Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reports to Material Planning Group leader. Primary responsibility of this position is to manage the external supply of purchased product in support of production needs. Carries out effective material control techniques that assure material availability while achieving defined inventory plans.

Summary of Duties:

* Supports and attains defined inventory levels for purchased components in support of an optimized inventory plan.
* Develops material release quantities with suppliers consistent with company order policies.
* Analyzes MRP system requirements and note and correct discrepancies when appropriate.
* Works with internal and external groups to reduce inventory levels.
* Communicates requirements forecasts to suppliers in order to meet delivery schedules that are consistent with production schedule needs.
* Works with suppliers to identify and resolve any potential future supply challenges.
* Resolves component supply issues related supplier quality problems and inventory discrepancies.
* Expedites suppliers to ensure supplier delivery performance meets commitments and expectations.
* Meets with suppliers to resolve performance issues and drive continuous improvement.
* Implements engineering changes to minimize obsolete and surplus materials both internally and externally.
* Controls use of inbound freight and premium freight to minimize costs.
* Identifies excess, distressed and obsolete inventory and implement actions to disposition it.
* Drives supplier automation activities to help improve operation efficiencies.
* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications:

4 year Business degree or equivalent related experience in purchasing, production planning, and material and inventory control preferably in an OEM or tier 1 supplier environment. APICS certification is preferred.

Experience:

Purchasing, production planning, material and inventory control preferably in an OEM or tier 1 supplier environment.

Skills:

* Must have excellent communications skills
* Possess above average analytical skills.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite of products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
* Must possess leadership ability and judgment.
* Must demonstrate initiative and a sense of urgency.
