Job Role and Responsibility:
We are seeking a Product Manager to join the Skyline team to act as champion for our customers, collaborating between the various product business units and aid in the planning of the VMware Skyline proactive intelligence roadmap. This includes the integration of Skyline, Machine Learning insights, and other future thinking interactions across VMwares product portfolio. Youll be solving complex problems than span many product lines and back-end systems. In this technical product leadership position, you should feel comfortable in leading the development of use cases and features that offer critical solutions for VMware customers. To effectively build complex strategies it is important to build a strong network among your peers and internal teams. You should be ready to take ownership of the initiatives and programs to aid in delivering of the product roadmap. You will be working with the Director of Product Management and Engineering leadership to ensure product direction and execution align to the product strategy.
* Working with Business Unit (BU) heads and product managers to whiteboard, scope, plan, and define requirements to solve technical integrations, drive customer value through data analytics, usability features and cross-product interactions. Define requirements for solutions that affect hundreds of thousands of customers and thousands of employees.
* Being able to articulate a vision of harmonized customer engagement and be able to drill down with supporting data and research to support the vision and product direction.
* Work closely with User Experience designers to help convey customer need within the user experience. Explain these prototypes/mockups back to the product team and to our customers.
* Provide leadership on enabling delightful experiences through software.
* Work with the Skyline engineering team to define and implement consistent and scalable services and communicate your vision with the development teams to realize your solution.
* Apply creative thinking/approach to figure out technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, keeping in mind performance, reliability, scalability, usability, security, flexibility, and cost.
* Maintain broad knowledge in industry, market, software, infrastructure, data analytics, security, and business architecture areas.
* Articulate optimal value against effort/investment as well as explain the advantages or trade-offs of various design and technology alternatives.
* Engage with customers and partners to understand their needs and provide detailed requirements in the product backlog
* Establish relationships with key Business Unit and Product Managers across technology organizations and collaborate on promoting integration opportunities.
Required Skills
* 5+ years as a product manager, including time leading technical staff and solution implementations
* 2+ years of business development experience in a support, consulting and/or professional services environment.
* Strong understanding of both private and public cloud support and management solutions
* Strong understanding of how to integrate complex corporate systems and delivery of Cloud SaaS services at scale.
* Think strategically: See patterns and relationships in information and events; clarify and simplify complex information; anticipate trends and possibilities that may lead to new business opportunities; consistently think and act ahead of the curve; anticipate and effectively respond with urgency to immediate opportunities; executes plans vigorously and with flexibility; operate actively; identify and address long-term opportunities.
