The phlebotomist consistently obtains quality specimens from patients while following safe practices to ensure the pre-analytical phase of testing is accurate. Additional job responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: 1. Collect specimens according to established policies and procedures. 2. Accurately enter lab tests requested and patient information when applicable into the LIS 3. Perform departmental assigned duties. 4. Data entry 5. Faxing 6. Answering phones 7. Calling patients and physician offices 8. Processing specimens 9. Centrifuging 10. Stocking 11. Cleaning 12. Phlebotomist must follow laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. 13. Must complete appropriate training as required for organization.

* Consistently demonstrates effective and professional communication with hospital personnel, patients, and customers.
* Cooperates with hospital personnel to promote a collaborative team environment
* Consistently follows hospital and laboratory policies and procedures to ensure a quality sample is obtained.
* Ability to effectively multitask
* Strong attention to detail
* Train and assist new employees as requested
* Correctly performs pre-analytical activities related to specimen collection and patient identification
* Correctly verifies patient identification prior to and after sample collection
* Prepare patient correctly before obtaining sample
* Explain the sample collection process to patients and answer questions as needed
* Accurately utilize the LIS to enter laboratory tests.
* Show compassion for nervous or frightened patients.
* Ability to efficiently and successfully obtain samples from patients with minimal to no complications.
